Global Voice for Justice: Phase 1 – `Eid al-Adha Letter Writing Campaign (Completed Project)

thumbs-up

Update on this campaign: Alhamdulillaah we recieved around 60 letters from supporters from different corners of the world! And those letters were sent by our most-dedicated volunteers to prisoners [approx. 140!] in Australia, U.S., Canada, U.K., Tunisia, Slovakia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Bosnia, Morocco, China, Algeria, and Gitmo Bay. Allaahu Akbar! May Allaah reward all of those who took a few moments to bring a smile to our brothers’ faces, to let them know that we are here for them. May Allaah relieve each and every one of those who helped from every hardship they may face just as they helped relieve our brothers’.

I believe our campaign was very successful alhamdulillaah. Makes me so proud of the believers.. we are indeed one body. May Allaah unite us in coming to the aid of our brethren and grant us victory and relief, soon ya Rabb. Without Allaah’s Help and Mercy, and the help of all the volunteers on this forum PLUS the ones who tirelessly worked to put all of the letters together, write poems, etc.. and mail them out using their own expenses, this wouldn’t have been possible. So a BIG thank you to everyone for all your efforts!

Assalaamu`alaykum/Peace all,

As most of us will be occupied in these coming days with preparation for the joyous occassion of `Eid, there will be many, many families mourning the separation of their loved ones. Some have their brothers locked up, husbands, some are fathers and some are sons. These brothers – and lets not forget our dear sister `Aafia Siddiqui – will be spending their `Eid locked up in cold, dark cells, most of them in solitary confinement. And their families, their children will be spending theirs in hollow emptiness, void of any happiness and festivities.

Please post your messages of support for both brothers and their families in this thread. You can also email them to: globalvoice.forjustice@gmail.com. If you wish to write to specific prisoners, please mention their names along with your letters/messages. Although I’d prefer people put up general messages so we can send them out to every prisoner (US, Canada, UK, Italy, etc) that we have in our database.

Imagine how much a few words of comfort and support from you will mean to them! So please take a few moments to write up a short message (or long if you wish!) and help bring some life into their days and lift their spirits.

DEADLINE: Tuesday, November 24, 2009.

May Allaah hasten the release of all our brothers and sisters.
